![]() Why are you wanting the cds, are you planning on wiping everything and reinstalling? If so, just so you realize you will need to do each machine individually. There do exist naked/untouched oem on bittorrent sites as well, but that's not advised for various reasons. The media itself is worthless without a product key. For less hassle goto the place he bought the refurbed pcs from or bring a copy of the invoice that makes it look more legit if the techs dont want to. The best bet is to goto a computer repair store and ask them to burn you the media. As mentioned above, these are different from HP/Dell/Acer OEM cds that are coded to work only on that brand of computer. ![]() ![]() What you need are the naked windows oem cds aka system builder cds. The good news is, all the versions are stored on the same disk. The scenario is similar with Vista/Windows 7, however microsoft increased the versions. Of the system recovery disks, there are 2 more types - a standard xp install with a generic product key in place that matches your hardware (called SLP) so you dont need to enter it, and then a full recovery cd that takes it back to factory. Regarding OEM versions there's 2 types - system builder aka naked windows xp and then "system recovery" disks. None of the keys work on different versions. Microsoft released XP in the following formats: PCs purchased from a retail store will not work with technet/msdn/regular downloadable media.
